The best shoe for kids is this Nike basketball

My child was supposed to learn to tie shoelaces in first grade, a step that never happened. But besides the laces, there is an even more pressing problem in our house regarding shoes. I’m talking about finding the best children’s shoes. Well, folks, I finally found it: the Nike Flex sneaker for kids. My kid is obsessed with the swoosh, so these Nike kids’ shoes tick all the boxes.

It’s one of those great life ironies that I’m obsessed with fancy shoes, but that same problem became my son’s cross to wear. The shoes are either too tight or too loose. They are too narrow or much too wide. There are boring tags. And more boring tags. My God, those fucking tags.

Then we take care of the velcro that does not hold in place. Pebbles that no human eye can actually detect, but which only appear encrusted in my son’s sneakers. The invisible blisters that pop up over and over again, which only he can spot. And of course, the eternal, overwhelming reality that a shoe that fits perfectly in a store will, of course, once worn, be horribly unusable the second it hits the pavement. Then, of course, it cannot be returned.

This slip-on sneaker is the best for kids.

After endless outings of shoes, I finally decided to lay down my guns and let my child pick a pair. The criteria were simple: no laces, no velcro, no weird patterns or labels, no narrow openings that would make it easy to put on and take off said shoes.

We came across the Nike Flex sneaker for kids. It’s a slip-on style, which means none of the above issues ever became a problem. They come in amazingly cool prints. They are super easy to put on and take off. Kids can wear them with or without socks, which means (drum roll please) no more wrinkled sock moments. They are made of a breathable mesh upper with a synthetic overlay so that there is no chafing which leads to the aforementioned blisters which are invisible to the naked eye.

This shoe fits. And damn it yes, he wears it.
