Currently on the sidelines due to abdominal strain, LeBron James is moving forward with his signature sneaker series. Most recently, the Nike LeBron 19 has appeared in a color scheme apparently inspired by the days of the Lakers’ organization in Minneapolis.
Before Los Angeles, the basketball franchise of stories called Michigan and Minnesota “home,” the latter spawning its current name – the central state is nicknamed the “Land of 10,000 Lakes.” Between 1947 and 1960, the Los Angeles Lakers sported a powder blue and “University Gold” uniform, both of which appeared on James’ last basketball sneaker. Unlike previous propositions, however, the apparent nod to team history plays a secondary role in the predominantly light cream pair. Most synthetic and textile uppers indulge in a muted hue, leaving the Air Max unit around the heel and linear tread underfoot to indulge in undertones of blue and gold. No “MPLS” text appears on the upcoming Nike LeBron, but the resemblance is obvious.
The official Nike.com release date has not been disclosed by the brand, but that is subject to change in the coming months. Either way, enjoy the images of the pair below.
