Many Lakers and other NBA players in the Orlando bubble have called on Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron to press charges against the officers who shot Taylor, an emergency medical technician who was tragically shot eight times by the Louisville Metro Police Department while in his home.
One of the officers, Detective Brett Hankinson, was fired from his post. However, no charges were laid against officers in the Taylor case.
Brooklyn Nets star point guard Kyrie Irving worked with PlayersTV to produce a television program focused on Taylor’s murder. The hour-long Irving-produced special examined how Taylor’s murder continues to underscore the lack of awareness of police brutality and provided viewers with several concrete steps to foster change and demand justice for Taylor, per prweb.com.
Until the officers who killed Taylor are arrested, African-American athletes will continue to pressure the Kentucky attorney general. LeBron has always used his platform to instill change in America and that will never change.
