On Sunday, along with her older sister Asia Irving, leader of the Brooklyn Nets, Kyrie Irving unveiled the designs of her new Nike Kyrie 6 sneakers via Instagram Live.

Irving’s sister graduated from Temple University with a business degree. While on Instagram live, she shared how she wanted to get into fashion instead and interned at Nike and then caught the creative bug. “Go ahead,” Asia Irving said.

“Be yourself, honor your profession, honor your talent. “

Kyrie Irving said he was excited about the collaboration: “I want to do it for my family,” he said.

“But make it a cultural and global thing. “

Asia Irving played a central role in coordinating her brother’s fashion. Kyrie Irving admitted that in previous years he had spent around $ 50,000 on various luxury clothes and that one day he decided to put his sister in charge of her wardrobe.

Asia Irving is excited about the next steps in the development of style pieces for Kyrie. “I hope to do more,” she said.

“I am ready for 2021 and onward.”

Irving’s Kyrie 6 Nike sneakers are available in two different colourways: purple and black. Asia Irving says she chose purple for her brother’s shoe because purple “represents royalty.”

By Sneaker News: Kyrie Irving pays homage to her older sister through multiple sections of the shoe by imprinting her nickname on the medial wall both along the webbing and reworked just above the midsole, as well as on the side tongue and right. Further nods towards her are present through the left sockliner with an ‘A’ printed in Old English lettering, followed by the sculpted heel blocks that spell out the words ‘Year of the Woman’ is a distorted fashion.

On Instagram Live, Kyrie Irving touched on a myriad of other topics, including creativity.

“Create freely,” said the Nets point guard.

“When I’m in the field I’m the happiest when I’m doing my job, but also in a way that entertains and makes people happy. I’m not a dancing person out there saying, “Hello yeah, yeah let’s go, come on.” Nah, like, I’m not that, I’m not that. I have never been that. I will never be that; and you know something like a commodity that people laugh at and you know, “he off the pitch is like …”. No, it’s on the court, look at my CV, look at the classics, look at my art. I have been creating it for over ten years now. Do not play with me. Don’t play with what I do day in and day out to provide and go out there and create. You know what I mean? I am away from my family seven months a year. I am on the front line, activism. I continue to shed light on Breonna Taylor and #SayHerName and all of our women. Like, it’s life that includes so much more than just shooting a fucking basketball. “

Kyrie Irving, 28, averaged 27.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game this season in his first year with the Nets. Irving will not be participating in the NBA restart at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., As he rehabilitates his surgically repaired shoulder.
