Mortgage higher upper limit

In 2017, a home up to € 245,000 can be financed with the National Mortgage Guarantee. This upper limit for an NHG mortgage therefore becomes higher.

The National Mortgage Guarantee (NHG) is popular with homeowners. In 2016, three quarters of the mortgages opted for this extra security in the event of a residual debt and payment problems. For this you pay a one-off 1% of the mortgage amount (tax deductible).

On the other hand, with an NHG mortgage you are eligible for interest-rate discounts at most lenders. In our overview of current mortgage rates, we therefore distinguish between mortgages with and without NHG.

The maximum amount for which an NHG mortgage may be taken out is maximized. At the moment a home up to € 231,132 can be financed with the National Mortgage Guarantee. The additional costs were taken into account. On the other hand, with an NHG mortgage you are eligible for interest-rate discounts at most lenders. In our overview of current mortgage rates, we therefore distinguish between mortgages with and without NHG.

This NHG limit will be raised to € 245,000 in 2017. The Waarborgfonds Eigen Woning (WEW) foundation, which provides the guarantee, follows the rise in house prices. Further reduction in the NHG limit was already postponed in 2016 for the same reason. The widening of the NHG border shows that the housing market is on the rise.
